Tuff came from a rural WV shelter in August' looking a bit like a basketball on toothpicks. She was so big and pregnant we weren't sure those puppies would fit out of such a tiny girl. Luckily for all' she had six tiny 4 oz pups (imagine a furry stick of butter) and her labor was speedy and simple. She went from 12 lbs to 8 lbs in 2.5 hours. Imagine losing 30% of your weight in such a short time. Tuff is an appropriate name for her. She's a tough tiny thing with the spirit of a German shepherd. Amazingly she rules over the foster's big dogs. She is a snuggler' and when she's not guarding the premises' she's quite content to be curled up on a lap (preferably under a fuzzy blanket). She sleeps in bed' under the covers' preferably warming someone's feet. It took her several weeks to bond with her foster' but when she did it was with the strength of super glue. She looks like a fawn' especially when she's curled up in a tiny ball. Because she has so little fur' she's always cold and likes her little sweaters. She's not too fond of very young kids' but loves them when they're old enough to treat her like the lady she is' instead of a squeak toy. Tuff was an excellent mother' and her last puppy was just adopted. Now it's her turn to find her forever home if someone is looking for a loving warm little companion.
